REAL Projects

Learning through REAL projects is a design for learning that connects deep subject content with real world problem solving. REAL projects enable all students to create extraordinary work that matters. The children gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to a complex question, problem or challenge. This involves several skills and stages in each REAL Project. These stages are:

  • an essential question that starts each project
  • a focus on developing 21st century skills
  • an in depth inquiry
  • the importance of student voice and choice
  • a planned authentic outcome
  • presenting to the public through an 'exhibition'

At all times, these REAL projects must be rigorous and engaging with the children learning throughout the project. All of these skills and aspects ensure children  are engaged in learning to the highest possible level.
